Associate Degree Vs Diploma

A certificate program generally takes less time to complete than an associate’s degree.

A certificate program in healthcare takes 6-12 months, and an associate’s degree usually takes 15-18 months to finish. A certificate program emphasizes skills needed to perform the job while an associate degree also includes a few general education classes.

While a certificate program takes less time to finish and is valuable in obtaining job skills, when it comes to advancing your career and building a foundation for further education,

an Associate Degree will be a better choice.

An Associate degree is a stepping stone toward achieving a higher level academic degree such as a Bachelor’s Degree. It will also help you increase your opportunities in the work field.

The higher paying jobs within the field may require additional qualifications to those in the certificate program. For example, leadership positions in healthcare will require strong

communication skills and enhanced knowledge available through the general education courses. The employers recognize the candidate’s enhanced ability to perform the tasks with the additional preparation available in the associate degree programs.

With just one extra semester spent working on your Associate Degree, you can acquire

additional opportunities including the possibility for better pay!
